'Only the best is good enough for our children" was the motto Margarete Steiff started this company with. The animals she made were soft and had an irresistible appeal. Margaret Steiff first opened her shop in 1880. Great care and precision sewing has always been a part of Steiff. One of the present day slogans of this very successful company is "A Steiff is Forever Yours." The Steiff Company is still engaged in making teddies and their friends. In the past we have had several Steiff animals and have reluctantly shared them with others. This is your opportunity to have an original Steiff stuffed toy.
Disneyland Convention Bear
In 1988 Disney and Steiff began producing a limited number of "Walt Disney World Convention Bears." one thousand were made. In 1995 a Teddy Bear retail company listed the first issue bear at a cost of $1000. They produced one bear each year until 1995.
The first Disneyland Convention Bear was produced in 1992 as part of an annual Teddy Bear Classic with a limited edition of 2000. The bear pictured at left has the #011986. He is light grey colored and is 32 cm high. He has a white ear button. This bear is in mint condition and has never been in circulation.

Teddy White Teddy Bears
This Original Teddy White set was a limited edition of 2000. It was the 1982 Collectors Edition. The original boxed set contained five bears of different sizes: 41 cm, 36 cm, 26cm, 18 cm and 11 cm. The bears, designed by Margaret Steiff Giengen -Brenz each wore white ear buttons. The smallest bear is missing and was not part of the original purchase. This ever popular set was originally made with grey mohair but this white series is a new addition to the Steiff Bear collection. Teddy White was designed by Richard Steiff, a nephew of Margarete Steiff. The bears are all jointed at the arms, legs and head.

The original Steiff bear in our collection was "Molly Bernie". "It was love at first sight" for us and we were thrilled to purchase this brown and white mohair Steiff dog at a doll show many years ago. He has been well loved as part of our family and has enjoyed a favorite spot in our home. He is 30 inches long from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail. He has a black floss nose and air brushed markings. He proudly wears a yellow and red "Molly Bernie" Tag.
