John Frank opened a studio pottery in Norman, Oklahoma in 1933, creating bowls, dishes vases, etc., which bore the ink stamped mark "Frank Potteries". At this time only a few hundred pieces were produced.

The Frank family moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1938. In November of that year, a fire destroyed everything. The family rebult the pottery factory and continued to produce items for sale.

Clay was important in determining when a piece was made as well as the color of the finished piece. Recent pottery from the factory has a pinkish red cast. Tlhe company made all types of dishes, pots, vases, cups, bowls and much more.

In 1968 they began a new venture. They decided to produce limited editon Christmas plates that would tell the Christmas story in della robia pottery instead of blue and white porcelain. The molds from the onset were signed by the owner, John Frank. Plates made since 1974 are signed by his daugher, Joniece Frank. Plates were produced until 1997.

The plates became an immediate success with variety stores, hardware stores and gift shops listing many of them at a price of $5.00 each. As the years went by the early plates rose in value and are still in demand since they are no long being produced and were made with a limited number.
