Potters from the Santa Clara Pueblo often use the unique polychrome style for painting and decorating their pottery. (polychrome" means more than two colors.) The designs are usually very intricate and painted in a variety of natural colors. This small 4" high bowl was crafted by a member of the Hopi tribe who signed it simply "A.C.C. Hopi." It was purchased at the Galanis Trading Post in Gallup, New Mexico in 1990. |

This round 3 1/4" high seed jar is typical of the containers used by the Indians to keep their seeds in for the next planting. This is an especially beautiful specimen with black/white hairline painting. It was hand made by one from the Acoma village. It was purchased in 1990 at the Galanis Trading Post in Gallup, New Mexico. . |
