Cast Iron Animated Cap Guns

Animated toy cap guns are ones in which a figure, or figures, roughly forming the shape of a pistol, moves to hit and fire the cap. These toy guns were made by Ives, Lockwood & Stevens, Arcade, and kenton. Altogether there are only about two dozen types of these toy guns and they are very hard to find.

This type of gun was popular from the late 1870's up until WWI, and were originally sold as novelties. (Information from the book "Cast Iron Toy Pistols" by Charles W. Best.)
